As you might recall, together with Heidi Boisvert and with the support from Harvestworks and Rockefeller Foundation, we just founded XTH (@xthsense), a startup company with which we will be soon launching the new wireless Xth Sense with added functionalities you’ll be probably very happy about. More on that soon…
This summer XTH was invited by the Music Technology Group at the University Pompeu Fabra (MTG @ UPF) to sponsor the Music Hack Day at the Sònar+D festival in Barcelona, and useless to say it was an amazing and rewarding experience. 100 hackers gathered together, we gave them a bunch of Xth Sense and they hacked them away in 48 hours. The award for the best hack went to Brachioradialis, an audiovisual trio that extended the Xth Sense with reactive lights and videos. Another highlight was the project GenoMusic, which sonified DNA sequences and modulate them with real-time muscle sound captured using the Xth Sense.
Here’s the Sònar+D Music Hack Day video report, including a short excerpt from my opening performance… enjoy!
